Award-winning duo for flute and guitar based in London, Kent and Surrey.
Formed in 2018, the duo give recitals, concerts and provide wedding and event music to give your day the elegance and sophistication you deserve. The musicians studied at the Royal Academy of Music and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and have over 10 years of experience playing professionally in concert halls, galleries, churches, museums all over the UK and internationally.
Meet the musicians
Sarah Ovenden - Flautist
Sarah completed her masters in music at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2016, graduating with distinction. During her time here she was awarded the ‘Friends in New York of TCM London Award and Edgar TP Comley Prize for Excellence.’
As an orchestral musician, Sarah has played with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, and freelances with orchestras, opera companies and ensembles around the UK and many venues around Europe including Malta, Prague, Germany and France.
Alongside Duo Arthema, Sarah also plays with the Waldegrave Ensemble and enjoys playing as a soloist. Previous engagements have included concerto's for flute by Nielsen, Ibert, Malcolm Arnold and Chaminade. She is also passionate about inspiring the younger generation as a teacher and enjoys giving workshops.
Emre Gokalp - Guitarist
Born in Turkey, 1988, Emre Gokalp is an award-winning classical guitarist who is currently living in London.
He began to study classical guitar with Professor Ahmet Kanneci at 8 years old. Thanks to his successful application and scholarship from the Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation, he has graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, Master of Arts programme with DipRAM and Frank Britton Prize in 2014.
He has won several prizes in international guitar competitions around the world since 1999 and most recently won the "1st International Guitar Competition Paris Guitar Foundation" in 2016.
He has performed in various music festivals and competitions in Turkey, Bulgaria, Armenia, France, Spain, Italy, United Kindgdom, United States of America and many others.
